Detail stripping the M1 Garand rifle
is a process that takes a couple of weeks to learn.
Becoming familiar with how a firearm operates and
how the parts work together is very important for
a plethora of reasons not the least of which is
keeping it functioning. Being able to take a weapon
down to its individual parts helps one learn these
things.
SAFETY FIRST
Always wear safety
glasses when working on rifles as there is the possibility
of a spring popping lose and you don't want to lose
your vision over maintaining an M1.. no matter how
historic.
Once the rifle has
been Field Stripped you may turn your attention to
the following individual groups and take them apart
one at a time.
