Detail stripping the M1 Garand's
wood is, (with the possible exception of the Rear
Handguard), a very easy process. In fact, it is
so simple that a child could do it.
Most of the things that need doing
can be accomplished with a standard GI Combo Tool. In this section the only item
that needs more tools than the combo tool to remove
is the Rear Handguard Band. More on that later...

After field stripping the rifle and
removing the Gas Cylinder we can then begin to detail
strip the wood from the M1 Garand.
