Detail stripping the M1 Garand's Bolt Group is actually pretty easy for however we have heard of people that have real problems with it. Here is how we do it.

Most of the things that need doing can be accomplished with a standard GI Combo Tool.

While reading this you may want to refer to the Nomenclature Pages if any of the part names don't click.

The first thing to do is remove the Bolt Assembly from the rifle. (See other detail-stripping sections.)

When you have retrieved the Bolt Assembly from the rifle clean off any grease, oil, or other contaminants.

Prepare to remove the Extractor.
