How To Detail Strip The M1 Garand Gas Cylinder

The first step in the Gas Cylinder disassembly process is to remove the Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve. This is easily accomplished using the Combo tool or a nice large bladed screwdriver.

Use the combo-tool to unscrew the Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve just a couple of counterclockwise turns, (enough for it to rotate freely), and then unscrew Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve the rest of the way by hand.

Once the Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve comes lose from the threads simply pull it away and set it aside someplace safe.

When the Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve is off it is time to remove the Gas Cylinder Lock.
