Re-Assembly of the Gas System Of the M1 Garand Rifle
 

When the Gas Cylinder is firmly in place it needs to be locked down with the Gas Cylinder Lock.

To replace the Gas Cylinder Lock simply slip it onto the end of the barrel.

Gently turn the Gas Cylinder Lock so as to make sure it engages the Barrel Threads in such a way as to avoid cross threading. Spin the Gas Cylinder Lock until it is all the way against the Gas Cylinder.

If everything goes perfectly the last quarter turn will firm up sharply and stop with the lower hole of the Gas Cylinder Lock right over the Gas Cylinder Lock Screw Valve Hole. Allow for a little slop in either direction though.
