How To Reassemble The Trigger Group On The M1 Garand

When we are ready to place the Trigger in the trigger housing we like to place it at the same time we place the hammer spring housing assembly.

By holding the two assemblies as a group it seems to line up a little more easily.

The first step in placing the assemblies that we do is to make sure the hammer is in the raised (fired) position. We then nose the hammer spring Plunger into the recess cut for it near the base of the hammer. We like to lightly oil the nose of the plunger as this area is one that rotates slightly.

With the hammer spring plunger in position feed the trigger down through the rectangular slot in the bottom of the trigger housing.

Note that we keep the point at the rear of the trigger inside the trigger housing.

The final step in the actual assembly of the trigger group is to compress the hammer spring and secure it all together with the trigger pin.
