The next step is to place the band.
If you place the larger leg onto the left side of
the Rear Handguard first that the subsequent steps
are easier to accomplish.
Next, gently and SLOWLY
'walk' the band along in the groove on the Rear
Handguard. If the band begins to gouge or scrape
wood - stop - and lift the leading edge of the band
so as to not damage the wood.
As we walk the band
around the Rear Handguard we make very certain that
the Rear Handguard itself does not ride up or come
off of the barrel. Again, the concern is making
sure not to crack the thin wood.
The final step is to
snap the band into place over the Rear Handguard
and into the small cut on the barrel made for the
'leg' of the band.
When doing this we
tend to push the last 1/8 of an inch very quickly
so as not to slough off any of the wood at the end
of the channel.
