M1 Garand Bullet Guide

Part name: Bullet Guide

Part Function: The Bullet Guide supports and allows pivoting of the follower arm and helps to guide the follower rod. It also helps to define the area the cartridges are stored in.

Special Notes: The bullet guide usually has a VERY slight spring tension to it which helps to hold it in place.

Other items of interest in this photograph: Silver Wartime 5 Cent Piece. During World War II the nickel metal which until the war had been the prime alloy component in 5 cent pieces was deemed to be critical to the war effort. Because nickel was in short supply, the US Government substituted silver for several years instead of nickel metal. Wartime Nickels with silver content always have a large mint-mark (P, D, or S) stamped above the Monticello.

Part shown in final assembly.
